I came across this wonderful blog of Mike Akton, which deals with optimization issues and the STI's Cell Processor specifically. As it would have been obvious for regular readers( are there any? ) of this blog, I can't "tolerate" un-optimized, sloppy code, so this newly found blog fits naturally into my daily checks list. Here is a sample post on understanding strict aliasing that illustrates the value Mike's posts.
Classic computer problems: Food for thought. Pick one and let your mind processing units overheat.
A couple years ago I watched a movie that involved students who were into DnD that got lost in some sort of sewage system or something, that was probably way before I got into computers, games and all that. For some reason, memories from that movies surfaced two days ago so I searched for that said movie, not really knowing much about it, other than the fact it had to do with DnD culture. Thankfully, all it took was a visit to Wikipedia. It turns out its a movie starring young Tom Hanks, called 'Mazes and Monsters'. I fired up bit-torrent ( MPAA go away ) and eventually I had the chance to watch it again. Its an interesting movie, based on false assumptions (check the Wikipedia page) but it is worth it nevertheless, especially if you like RPGs. Recommended.
